  1. I've had this issue come up a year ago. A family member brought an Alienware laptop assuming that 'store brought' was the only way to go in buying a laptop. Months later he had it practically decimated by a virus AND faulty equipment.

    We tried to recover everything off it (even going through the BIOS, and Safe mode) but in the end it could barely stand to stay on for more than 2 minutes. Even after ghosting the system (giving up on recovering the files he had on there and just wiping everything clean) the thing was DOA.

    All that money spent on a popular name only to have to replace it a year later. I think he also didn't set up virus protection like he should've - adding to the poor thing crapping out! I bet if he asked for help sooner, or had virus protection on he'd still have it working fine.
